Whether you’re looking to boost your vehicle’s storage capacity or accommodate a rooftop tent or 4×4 awning, the addition of a roof rack makes perfect sense for so many reasons. For those wishing to upgrade for ease and convenience in both the short and long term, the customisable, low-profile and rugged construction of the ARB BASE Rack is certain to appeal.

As well as ticking all the right boxes in terms of its design, the BASE Rack’s weight sets the bar pretty high as WhichCar? details:

“On delivery of a 1835mm x 1155mm platform ARB BASE Rack for our trusty ol’ Prado 120, it was immediately evident the new rack is light…I mean really light. In fact, our seven-bar platform weighed in at a ridiculously impressive 18.5kg, a near 10kg weight saving to some other low-profile alloy trays we’ve evaluated.”

Despite its lightweight, the ARB BASE Rack doesn’t compromise on its carrying capacity. It delivers beyond the maximum load capacity of many 4×4 makes and models when combined with short lateral beams thanks to its fully welded construction.

The ARB BASE Rack also comes in trade, full, ¾ and ¼ rail designs, but what’s the difference between these kits? Here we answer that very question and share the accessories that make owning the ARB BASE Rack even more satisfying.

Full

ARB’s full configuration is just that, it provides a load rail all the way around the perimeter of the rack to deliver the ultimate on-roof storage solution. This style of rack is designed especially for tourers, with the full configuration ideal for off-road travel.

Using a full BASE Rack, larger items can be secured in place for the journey, with the complete rack preventing loads from shifting during transit.

Trade

The trade rail is fantastic for drivers who use their 4x4s for work purposes. This time, there are just two rails positioned on either side of the rack, making trade supplies and equipment – including longer items such as ladders and timber – easy to load, unload and transport. With those side rails in tow, your equipment won’t slip or roll from the rack.

Three-quarter

The ¾ style combines the best of both the trade and full configurations. This rack features front and side rails only. The ARB ¾ BASE Rack is great for drivers carrying large or unusually shaped loads on a regular basis, as well as those looking to accommodate a rear folding roof tent.

Quarter

Featuring a single rail just at the front, the ¼ BASE Rack is made for camping. You can mount and use a rooftop tent with ease thanks to the simplicity and structure of this rack design as well as enjoy all the additional space you need to store and carry supplies securely.

Configure your setup

All these rack styles – trade, full, ¾ and ¼ rail – can be customised further with the addition of ARB’s extensive range of BASE Rack accessories. Its highly configurable design is one of the many reasons why the ARB BASE Rack is a bestseller!

Personalise your setup to your exact specifications with ARB jack holders, gas bottle holders, jerry can holders, recovery track holders, roof rack LED light bars, quick-release or fixed awning brackets, loading rollers, and much, much more.
