Although we have covered some interesting off-road topics recently, such as youtube channels and great places to go, we thought it would be a good idea to introduce you all to a new world.

Video games are portals to new roads and environments that are out of our grasp. They can give us wonderful experiences and let us see the world in a different way.

These games can sometimes be written off as childish or a time suck. But we think we can change your mind when it comes to getting your off-road fix in a new digital way.

Dirt

Dirt is a long-established series of video games centred around our favourite topic. The content of the game mainly includes racing and tracks, but we aren’t talking formula one.

In the official gameplay showcase for the most recent game in the series, we see a great example of what we can expect when driving headfirst into the game.

We are taken on a blitz across a bumpy track in the midst of a sandstorm, also featuring some water dips. And remember, this isn’t the only track you can expect to be racing on.

You’ll face many different kinds of weather and terrains as you get whisked away through the many levels and races, perfect for a late-night off-road binge.

Pure Rock Crawling

If racing really isn’t your thing, this next title might be more in your lane.

Pure Rock Crawling is a diamond in the rough that can really scratch the off-road itch. The official trailer can show you what the game has to offer.

Whilst it definitely can be considered unrealistic in some scenarios, Pure Rock Crawling is a much more relaxed game when it comes to driving and tackling off-road situations.

It allows us to, well, crawl over rocks in ways we might be a little too scared to do in the real world. On top of this activity, so eloquently stated in the title, Pure Rock Crawling also offers some general off-roading as you move to and from destinations to attain new heights.

Overpass

This might be our favourite in terms of both realism and freedom. Overpass, although still providing a timer to complete locations, really puts the player into the driving seat for off-roading.

No more wacky fast tracks and bouncy mountain climbing; here you can really get into the core meaning of off-roading. The trailer really does it justice.

The game itself features tracks that allow you to choose how you get to the finish line, adding a large amount of replayability to every environment. If you don’t have as much money to spare, this is where we suggest investing it.

So, that’s our dive into the digital realm done for now. If you would like us to cover more games for you to sink your wheels into, be sure to let us know; there are many other contenders that didn’t make our list today!

In the highly likely event you’re reading this and would prefer to get your hands truly dirty, we have a plethora of products to suit all your off-roading needs.
