With the days getting shorter and a whole lot darker, embracing life on the brighter side will certainly be on many 4×4 owners’ minds. There are several benefits to adding 4×4 lighting to your vehicle. In this blog post, we explore these advantages, the products available and whether 4×4 lighting is really an upgrade worth making.

The benefits of 4×4 lighting upgrades

Whilst nighttime off-road driving isn’t generally the done thing, driving your 4×4 at night or during these darker, winter evenings is.

Adding lighting to your rig is a great option for increasing your visibility and safety. When compared to many of the factory-standard stock lights, aftermarket lighting upgrades make it much easier and safer to navigate through the darkness in the world’s toughest terrains.

Additional driving lights can also help to minimise risk when driving at night, with reduced vision, fatigue, and eye strain being just some of the challenges that can be overcome.

They are also particularly stylish too. Whether opting for an LED light bar or spotlights, 4×4 lighting can make the look of your ride very aesthetically pleasing indeed.

The 4×4 lighting products on the market right now

There are many types of aftermarket 4×4 lighting upgrades to explore. Generally categorised as light bars and spotlights, these two lighting options have very different designs.

Spotlights are round, whilst light bars are long and thin. Both however tend to use LEDs to unlock a number of advantages for drivers, particularly when compared with halogen lighting, as Total 4×4 explains:

“4×4 LED Lights are a fantastic choice for any 4WD thanks to their excellent performance and affordable price tag. Drawing significantly less power than halogen lights, boasting incredible durability, and with reduced glare, LED lights are a top contender for the best 4×4 lights. LED driving lights also have a very long lifespan, with the average light lasting approximately 50,000 hours. Your 4×4 LED lights are likely to outlive your vehicle!”

Our range of flood and spotlights and LED light bars offers the crème de la crème of 4×4 lighting upgrades. With premium products from the world’s best brands (including Front Runner, Osram, ARB and RIGID) to choose from, you have access to the best 4×4 lighting products on the market right now.

So, is it an upgrade really worth making?

Lighting upgrades can be expensive additions to any rig, but entirely worth it if you partake in nighttime driving on a regular basis. Aftermarket upgrades also offer the power that most factory standard 4×4 lights don’t.

If you are looking to invest in 4×4 lighting, always choose the premium option. Cheaper LED lights are simply not worth the risk, and can in fact create glare and distract other road users as well as provide very little projection.

When choosing your 4×4 lights, take note of the quality of their construction. Your chosen products should be constructed using high-quality materials that offer the durable lenses, strong brackets and IP67-rated waterproof casing needed to go the distance. In terms of brightness, you should aim for a minimum of 5,000 lumens.
