LOF Clutches was founded in Leicestershire, UK, in 2018 by Luke Fitzsimmons. A talented engineer with a strong automotive background, Luke set out initially to develop uprated clutch and driveline products for Land Rovers.

The Land Rover market had long been plagued by low quality upgrades and replacement products which were not durable and were prone to failure. Fitzsimmons himself had bitter experience of using these low grade products, so he wanted his new company to offer products which Land Rover owners could rely on.

With their signature green powder coated casings and a small but growing range of Defender and Discovery clutch kits, LOF Clutches got off to a flying start. Land Rover owners were flocking to buy these high quality kits as word spread throughout the market, and demand was high. As with so many products, a clutch kit is only as good as its weakest part, so the engineers at LOF were careful to design every kit with high specs: organic friction material, enhanced pressure plate and spring designs, durably heavy duty cases and bearings, and solid flywheels.

As any good mechanic will tell you, it is critical that a replacement clutch is installed properly. Clutches are subject to extreme heat, high speed rotation and significant load transfer. By the time that your pressure plate wears out, the vehicle will often have covered a lot of miles and, with Land Rovers and other 4WD models, the vehicle may well have seen a life off road. The flywheel takes the brunt of this usage, and over time it tends to wear unevenly and develop run-out. This can be checked with a dial test indicator and, if the flywheel is outside of manufacturer specs, it must be machined or replaced.

After their significant success in the Land Rover market, LOF Clutches broadened their horizons, developing clutch kits and components for models including Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi L200, Nissan Navara and more. Further diversification of the range came in 2020 with the introduction of classic car kits for models including E-Type, MGB, TVR and others.

As the business continued to develop and innovate, LOF Clutches started to develop highly regarded upgrade brake kits for various models. Their talented engineers continue to work on new ideas as they strive to improve the on and off road performance of 4WD vehicles across the UK, Europe and worldwide.

Two core clutch ranges exist within LOF’s product catalogue. ROADspec kits typically feature a 20% performance increase compared to the standard OEM clutch and these kits are great for general road use, towing and off-road adventures. However, if your needs are greater and you engage your vehicle in really heavy towing or load carrying, or significant off road usage, the POWERspec kits may be just the product for you.
