Dunlop are one of the world’s best known automotive brands and their name is synonymous with the development of the car tyre. Founded by John Boyd Dunlop and Harvey do Cros in 1889 after Dunlop had invented the pneumatic tyre in Belfast, Northern Ireland the previous year, the Dunlop name will forever be associated with automotive innovation.

Dunlop’s invention was initially limited to the cycling market, winning cycle races and slowly winning favour as consumer demand grew for John Kemp Starley’s safety bicycles. The following years saw the product range grow to include garden hoses, golf balls and, in 1900, the first Dunlop motor car tyre.

By 1939, Dunlop was one of the largest British companies and by the 1940’s the company had 70,000 employees and a network of resellers in almost every country in the world. Despite numerous takeovers, mergers and difficulties in the years that followed, Dunlop is still a famous industrial and automotive name with worldwide recognition and applications for every type of vehicle.

Whilst the name has been found on everything from tennis racquets to fighter plane joysticks and from Ladas to Ferraris, one interesting area which may be less recognised to some 4WD owners but is an intrinsic part of the Dunlop story is their suspension range. Developed mostly for specialist applications, Dunlop has for many years been present in the Land Rover market with a high quality, complete suspension solution for EAS removal on Discovery models.

EAS, or Electronic Air Suspension, was developed by Land Rover to offer increased ride comfort and ride height flexibility. However, EAS does not tend to age gracefully, and an older EAS system can be prone to causing ongoing issues as one component after another passes its sell-by date and requires a costly replacement. In the interests of maintaining reliability, the Dunlop Air-to-Coil systems are an all-in-one solution and come pre-built for easy installation. Where required, an electronic module is included to defeat any errors or warning lights which may occur.

4×4 Works are proud to be one of the UK’s best known Dunlop suspension suppliers, with extensive stocks and in-depth technical knowledge of the product range. We can help you to delete your troublesome EAS system and make your vehicle more reliable and versatile without sacrificing comfort or handling.
