Upper control arms are an essential part of your suspension setup, and whilst performing their function they take the brunt of every bump and pothole you drive over – whether on or off road. Over time, this fatigues the ball joints and bushes and eventually the arms become loose, which causes vague handling, uneven tyre wear, and is an MOT failure in the UK. Factory standard arms are optimised for standard height vehicles, but after fitting a suspension lift, their geometry is not ideal for the vehicle and this causes problems with front end alignment.
Pedders upper control arms are stiffer than most standard arms thanks to their carbon steel tubular construction, which improves braking and reduces tyre wear. Most importantly, Pedders eXtreme UCAs, or wishbones as they are often known, are designed with a built-in offset to counteract the effects of lifting the vehicle. This can improve steering feel, even out tyre wear, and make it possible for your alignment centre to easily and correctly set the caster and camber.
Whilst these arms are sold with Pedders ball joints fitted, if needed in the future it is possible to fit standard ball joints should the need arise. This extends the life of the arms and makes sourcing spare parts easier for users in remote locations.

“How are Pedders eXtreme control arms different from standard OE parts?”
They are physically different in several ways. The lengths and angles are changed, the ball joints are uprated and the design and materials used allow the arms to be stiffer and more durable.
“Why would I need to replace my control arms?”
For every 25mm of additional lift height, your vehicle will lose around 1 degree of caster. Many modern vehicles have about 2 degrees of caster adjustment available for wheel alignment, so adding a 2 inch lift means that you no longer have the means to properly adjust wheel alignment as needed. Fitting Pedders eXtreme upper control arms allows for proper adjustment by restoring factory settings.
“Is this product suitable for standard height vehicles?”
No, these upper control arms are intended for vehicles with the amount of lift stated on the product page. They will work perfectly with many suspension lift kits, or other products which offer a similar amount of suspension lift.
“Are Pedders eXtreme control arms adjustable or fixed?”
Pedders eXtreme control arms have a fixed ball joint, they are not adjustable.
