Oryx Solutions are a German brand with a proven track record in camper and off road upgrades. Now, their engineers have developed the ultimate and FULLY REVERSIBLE Defender 110 roof conversion for models up to 2016. Since the factory roof shell is a bolt-on fit, it can be removed by loosening the mounting bolts. A custom subframe is then fitted and the original roof is re-attached. Installation is quick and the results are fantastic! Extra headroom is achieved and, when the roof is deployed, an optional bed base and mattress can be fitted and left in situ.
Made in Germany by Oryx, the Big Joe roof conversion is an exclusive product made of 3mm aluminium on specialised jigs. Delivered in a semi-gloss powder coated finish, you do not even have to arrange to have it painted before fitting. The frame is delivered fully assembled, with all fitting parts supplied. So, no drilling, no painting, no complex assembly, no welding are required and the installed height increase is just 170mm.
Triple seals are provided to keep rain and moisture out of the sensitive area between the frame and body. The tent fabric is made from Airtex which is water resistant, yet breathable for a pleasant interior climate. All three windows have mosquito nets and blackout blinds. The rear window can be opened and rolled up. Gas springs are provided with a 600 Nm rating each, ideal for low level roof loads. Optional 800 Nm gas struts are available for vehicles with additional roof loads.
Latches, tensioning elastics, a pull handle and mounting screws and rivets are all supplied. A matching bed base and mattress are sold separately and not included in the kit.
