Many shock absorbers are designed for road use only. Most 4WD vehicles and vans are sold as new with basic suspension components which are not intended for more than light off road use. Koni Active dampers are built on the same platform, but instead of being user adjustable they feature FSD resonator technology, allowing them to self adjust almost instantly to suit the terrain and driving conditions.

Whilst either type of damper will make a great upgrade, most users prefer to fit Koni Special where the load is more or less constant (such as a motorhome or camper build) and to fit Koni Active where the load is more variable (such as a works van or for towing heavy caravans and trailers).

With Koni Active dampers, they come pre-calibrated and no form of user adjustment is possible or needed.
