Suzuki

Suzuki has long carved out a niche in the world of compact, lightweight 4WD vehicles. While some manufacturers chase ever-larger platforms, Suzuki has stayed true to a philosophy that favours simplicity, manoeuvrability and mechanical integrity. This approach has earned the brand a loyal following, especially among off-road enthusiasts who value reliability and agility in tight or technical terrain.

The story began with models like the SJ410 and SJ413. These early 4WDs were small in stature but big on capability, featuring a traditional ladder chassis, selectable low-range transfer case, and live axles front and rear. Lightweight and economical, the SJs could go places much larger vehicles struggled, and they quickly gained popularity in rural areas, on farms and among weekend green laners. Even now, decades after production ended, these early Suzukis are still in use across the UK. For more on the SJ heritage, Suzuki’s historical archive offers a look back at their development.

At 4×4 Works, we have a real appreciation for what these vehicles offer. Over the years, we’ve helped hundreds of Suzuki owners outfit their trucks with gear that enhances off-road ability, load capacity and all-round utility. The SJ series proved that 4WD doesn’t have to be bulky or expensive to be effective, and that philosophy carries through to Suzuki’s modern offerings.

The Suzuki Jimny is the spiritual successor to the SJ series, and the latest generation continues to punch well above its weight. With its boxy styling, full ladder-frame construction, part-time 4WD with low range, and live axles, it’s one of the last truly purpose-built off-roaders in its class. Despite its compact size, the Jimny offers genuine trail performance and is widely used in forestry, agriculture and exploration. We support Jimny owners with a wide selection of products, including suspension kits, snorkels and underbody protection to ensure your vehicle can handle tough terrain with ease.

We also offer off-road bumpers, LED lighting upgrades and Front Runner roof racks—all carefully selected to suit the unique size and shape of the Jimny platform. For those planning longer journeys or expeditions, we also stock modular storage systems and solar power kits to increase capability and independence.

The Suzuki Vitara also deserves a mention. While newer models have moved closer to crossover territory, the earlier generations—particularly those with selectable 4WD and rugged underpinnings—remain popular among budget-conscious off-roaders. Their light weight and solid reliability make them ideal for light green lane work and as a base for mild overlanding builds.

At 4×4 Works, we’re proud to support the Suzuki 4WD community with practical, trusted components and real-world advice. Whether you’re running a classic SJ, a current-generation Jimny or an older Vitara, we have the expertise and stock to help you build a vehicle that’s ready for anything.
